Bluehost and WordPress
Development of a personal brand through the construction of a website

This project is a website development project created for my own use. This website stands as a digital portfolio, resume, and contact hub.
Background
The Quintin Nelson Website actually started a year prior to its release. My mother, Tera Nelson, has been involved in business ventures her whole life. In addition to her area of expertise at the time being wedding photography, she kept a portfolio of her projects on a website. She had suggested in early 2020 that I buy the domain name quintinnelson.com before someone else did so that I could use it when I was ready to have my own website. Thus, I bought it on GoDaddy and it sat for a few months. But with my resume growing and free time opening up at the conclusion of Fall semester 2020, I began its construction.
An initial release debuted in early January 2021. A revamped release, with updated organization, colors, and design, was released in July 2021. That is the rendition of the website you are viewing now.
My Involvement
The Quintin Nelson Website is hosted through Bluehost, built with WordPress, and designed using the Elementor plugin.
Bluehost is a platform in which hosts websites on the internet. My website lives on a server that I pay to use through BlueHost. They also provide security, encryption, and file managing capabilities. My domain name is additionally registered through Bluehost.
While Bluehost caters to the data side of the equation, WordPress deals with the visual aspect. WordPress is an open-source content management system where websites come to life. In WordPress, users can manage pages, posts, media, and many other details. In WordPress, I manage how my website is structured, what pages are available, and what pictures and videos appear in them.
While WordPress provides a great deal of webpage design capabilities, I decided to use a third-party plugin to design my website’s look. I was unhappy with the themes WordPress provides (that are free) due to the fact that none of them fit the way I envisioned my website looking. Elementor is a WordPress plugin that allows the user to have free reign over page design. It provides numerous media blocks such as text, pictures, buttons, and slideshows. It also allows for extremely detailed adjustments to everything such that color, size, and position.
